I donated my body to the Des Moines University. Hopefully, they won’t cash in on it for a while.
I’m single, have older siblings, want cremation, don’t care much for ceremony, and I’m cheap. This is the perfect solution for me.
I only had to pay a funeral home for transporting the body and handling the death certificate. $307. Total. I suggest Hamilton\’s Funeral Home. They knew what was necessary and didn’t try to sell me anything else.
The university cremates the bodies, inters the cremains, and has a memorial service once a year. And, they want you! But, for a while, I wasn’t so sure.
I downloaded the online application, filled it out and mailed it in. And then I waited. And waited. And… waited. Finally, I got my official laminated body donor card and a letter of thanks. Whew!
While awaiting a reply, all sorts of thoughts were swirling around in my head. The most prevalent being, they don’t want me!
As a typical mid-aged SWF, rejection was not unfamiliar to me. Naturally, I thought the worst. Dismissed as a corpse. Can you imagine? Fortunately, I did not have to suffer the ultimate rejection. But that would have made an interesting headstone engraving.
h, what a glorious day!
Ha. Another dailydropcap. It looks like the sun’s finally out. This weekend was mostly rainy but I still managed to get some yard work done. Ten lawn bags and five bundles of sticks, done. Yay! And, six loads of laundry. Good grief.
My brother, Jake, was in town so we went to El Bait Shop for lunch, Sunday. I recommend the sweet potato fries. And a cold one, of course. Allow at least 15 minutes to peruse the beer menu.
I just ordered this watch. The one I’m wearing is 25 years old and I love it but I worry it’s going to just fall off my wrist one day. So, am I going to stop wearing it? Save the best for last, when I might not even get to the last?
Wanted to try dailydropcap.
This morning I dropped my car off at Ramsey Subaru for a new timing belt. I love Ramsey. I love my car, as much as I can love an inanimate object.
What I really love is Pinterest! What a fun idea. A place to share things you love with others who share things they love.
That’s it for today. Oh, Emma’s playdate for yesterday fell through. She waited and waited and waited…
