Restaurant Week is over but I will be posting three more mini-reviews over the next, well, three weeks. Restaurant Week is a national event where one week a year where local restaurants offer special pricing on lunches and three course dinners. It’s a great way to try new place. Cities have Restaurant Week at different times of the year.
Anyway, in yesterday’s post I was at my fifth stop, Dos Rios. The meal was very good and what made it special was dining out with my neighbors, The Jensens (not to be confused with The Jetsons.) They are the best neighbors! But I digress.
Beverage of choice: Court Avenue Margarita – Altos Silver• Patron Citronge • Dos Rios’ house-made sour • Orange juice. Excellent house-made sour!
1st course: Seared Scallop Tiradito – coconut habanero sauce / lime sorbet. A cold soup-like dish it was yummy. The chill of the sorbet provided a nice balance to the heat of the habanero. And I love almost any dish with coconut milk.
2nd course: Short Rib – Ancho BBQ / Mexican corn on the cob / house slaw. Could I have picked a more indelicate meal to eat. Corn on the cob – which was amazing; and short ribs – finger licking good. This photo does not do it justice.
Me digging in.
3rd Course: Coconut Tres Leches Cake – almond coconut meringue / mango mint coulis / dark chocolate. What can I say. The picture speaks for itself.
While not my top Restaurant Week dinner, I’d definitely go back – for the margarita and stay for the food.
